Samsung’s hexa-core Exynos 7872 with A73 cores, iris scanner unveiled
South Korean tech company, Samsung, has officially unveiled the Exynos 7872 chipset, which had already been showcased on the Meizu M6s.
The latest chip from the tech company comes in addition to the mid-range Exynos 5 series although comes with some bumped up advantages and features.
The Exynos 7872 is built on a 14nm process and comes featuring a hexa-core processor packed with two clusters: 2x Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.0GHz speed and 4x Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.6GHz speed.
For graphics, the CPU comes powered by a Mali-G71 GPU and has a built-in support for an Iris scanner.
On the optics department, the chip boasts 1080p at 120fps video recording capabilities and the Smart Wide Dynamic Range although it grossly lacks the 2160p capability.
The maximum screen resolution supported by the latest mid-range chip is 1,920 x 1,200 pixels which means smartphones loaded with it can’t get the 18:9 FullHD+ screens.
