Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia E3 all go official at the IFA
Sony unveiled a trio of smartphones at the 2014 IFA event that kicked off today. The conmpany’s next flagship Sony Xperia Z3, it’s compact sibling, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and the third generation entry-level Sony Xperia E3 were all announced.
Sony Xperia Z3
The Sony Xperia Z3 broke cover with a 5.2″ 1080p display just like it’s predecessor, the Xperia Z2. The two phones also shares the same Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset which has a quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU inside.
The phone further packs 3GB of RAM and a storage space that varies between 16GB and 32GB, even though a 128GB microSD card port was built into the device.
Camera-wise, the flagship smartphone sports a 20.7MP hybrid camera even though there was no OIS in sight. In the front sits a 2.2MP snapper for your selfie needs. The Xperia Z3 is having a 3100mAh battery which is significantly lower than it’s predecessor’s 3200mAh battery. Needless to say, the device is dust and water resistant.
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is literally a smaller Xperia Z3, with a lesser screen and battery. It comes with a 4.6″ HD screen and a sealed 2600mAh battery and asides that, all other specs are identical with it’s bigger Xperia Z3 sibling.
Sony Xperia E3
This phone sports a 4.5-inch qHD screen made with TFT LCD. It features LTE connectivity despite it’s mid range status, thanks to it’s Snapdragon 400 chipset. Also there’s 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of expandable native storage on board.
The Xperia E3 features a 5MP camera at the back while a VGA snapper sits at the front. The phone is powered by a 2330mAh battery which claims to last up to 706 hours on standby.
All three phones are to hit the shelves by the fourth quarter of 2014. Sony is expected to list their respective prices by then.
