Windows Phone 8.1 arrives on Australia, New Zealand Lumia smartphones
Microsoft has released the Nokia Cyan update in Australia and New Zealand, adding to the list of countries whom the update was made available to upon initial release.
Cyan is the codename used for the Windows Phone 8.1 OS upgrade on Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia devices. That is, if you download the Nokia Cyan update on your Lumia phone, you are going to get your OS updated to Windows Phone 8.1.
A huge difference lies between WP8 and WP8.1 by the way. The Windows Phone 8.1 packs a lot of features the former lacked and made users complain bitterly.
For example, WP8.1 has a notification center for easy switching on and off of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, data, airplane mode, and for easy navigation of notifications and alerts. WP8.1 also brings a customizable lock screen and brings the much hyped Internet Explorer 11.
Finally, there’s Cortana, the voice assistant on Windows Phone 8.1, which will be named Huna is China. The mobile secretary had a successful run predicting matches during the just-ended FIFA BrazilanWorld Cup.
