Xiaomi is now the fifth largest smartphone vendor
Wonders shall never stop they say. From being just an ordinary unheard Chinese start-up, Xiaomi has worked it’s way into the top five top smartphone brands within a space of four years.
According to data released by Strategy Analytics, Xiaomi has ousted LG to become the fifth highest selling smartphone company.
Though specific information on sales numbers weren’t disclosed in the documents, the analyst put Xiaomi’s growth at 5.1% from the 2nd quarter of the previous year.
“Xiaomi was the star performer in the quarter, capturing a record 5 percent market share and rising into fifth place in the global smartphone rankings for the first time ever. Xiaomi’s Android smartphone models are wildly popular in the Chinese market and it shifts millions of them every quarter through its extensive online and operator channels. Xiaomi’s next step is to target the international market in Asia and Europe, where it will have to invest big money to familiarize western consumers with its unfamiliar brand name,” Strategy Analytics cited through a spokesman.
