Xiaomi Mi 3 discontinued, 40k Redmi 1s smartphones come to India
Strong indications have emerged that Xiaomi has cut off the spark wire on it’s former flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 3. The phone was doing well in sales and over the past three weeks, sold 95,000 units in six rush sales that were organized on Flipkart.
“Over next few weeks, we will focus on Redmi 1S, and Mi 3 won’t be available. We will take the final call after few weeks, once we have more visibility / data points,” Tech PP, a spokesman for Xiaomi India said.
True, 40,000 units of the Xiaomi Redmi 1s will be held up for sale on September 2nd as the above official teaser depicts but Indians might never be seeing the Mi 3, again. Rather, a more powerful, tad costlier Xiaomi Mi 4 will be sold instead (the Mi 4 was launched just a few weeks ago and you can see the specs here).
Indians will surely miss the Xiaomi Mi 3 and the few customers that laid their hands on one will count themselves lucky. Registration for buying the Redmi 1s is already on and you know buying is on a first click first serve basis come September 2nd.
