Xiaomi to power this year’s Nexus smartphone?
The first Nexus handset, Google Nexus One, was made by HTC. Ever since then, Google has maintained the partnership with a list of high profile companies every year ranging from Samsung to LG and last year to Motorola. However, this year’s Nexus smartphone has some shocker in tow.
Expected to land later in the year, the next Nexus smartphone will be introduced with a new version of Android, say Android 6.0. Interestingly, rumors we are hearing are suggesting that Google is going to partner with a Chinese OEM in producing the device. You could recall an interview with Xiaomi’s Vice President Hugo Barra who used to work for Google saying that the phone maker is ready to work on a Nexus device if ever called upon.
Another school of thought suggests that Xiaomi isn’t the only “Chinese manufacturer” around. The likes of Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE and even Meizu are still in the game, not forgetting OnePlus and Gionee who can still be considered.
