Xiaomi sold 15 million smartphones in 2014 Q2
It turns out CEO and co-founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, wasn’t blabbing when he said that he wants his company to sell at least 60 million smartphones this year.
Figures released by the privately-owned OEM shows that Jun’s dreams and the company’s mission isn’t far fetched.
Xiaomi announced that it has sold 15.11 million smartphones during the second quarter of 2014 and when added with 11 million sold in the first quarter, it shows that the Chinese company has shipped 26.11 million phones this year and counting.
When you compare these figures to that of previous years, it sums up the fact that Xiaomi is a consuming fire, taking down other smartphone vendors one by one, one market at a time.
In 2012, Xiaomi had only 7.2 million shipped phones to it’s name while in 2013, the company sailed 18.7 million phones.
We are waiting to hear the latest quarterly statistics by IDC et al to confirm where Xiaomi stands among the top smartphone vendors in the world and while we are not professional analysts, it’s a free world, so we are free to guess that Xiaomi will stand at third position when the figures are sent in– siting behind only Apple and Samsung .
