Xiaomi to plant R&D center in Bangalore, India
Delighted by the success of their smartphones in the Asian country, Xiaomi plans in setting up a R&D building in the Bengaluru (popularly known as Bangalore) city of India.
“In the next 12 months, we want to have built a significant presence here,” VP Hugo Barra said. “We want to have an R&D centre with an actual engineering team with designers, product managers and software engineers, who will build features for the Indian market within India, not just localise features.”
India is known for producing top of the range engineering and science graduates but a huge labor market is not available to accommodate all of them. So, Xiaomi bringing an R&D center to India is like giving back to an economy that has been so welcoming to them.
