Xiaomi to soon start own e-commerce site for Indian sales
Xiaomi has been posting exploding sales numbers for smartphones sold in India and we know it’s only a matter of time before the phone maker dethrones the industry heavyweights in the country.
However, the Chinese OEM feels it could be making more money out of it’s phones in India. It currently holds sales via the country’s biggest e-commerce website, Flipkart.
“In the future, we might set up our own ecommerce operations, selling through mi.com/in, in which case we’ll sell through Flipkart and our own website,” read a statement from Manu Kumar Jain, head of Xiaomi India.
Jain was the founder of a successful e-commerce site in India called Jabong so he is definitely not a noob in the online retail business.
If Xiaomi can hasten the creation of it’s own online sales portal for India, a huge toll of customers will be relieved as Flipkart has been known lately for crashing down under heavy traffic during Xiaomi flash sales.
