Xolo prepping $150 Windows Phones next year, will launch 4G phones on Airtel India
Starting from next year, Xolo will be making affordable Windows 8 smartphones.
“Pricing of these devices would be no different from the prices of XOLO Android smartphones and tablets. XOLO Windows Phone smartphones would be priced in the $150-$300 range,” said Vishal Sehgal, co-founder and director at Xolo.
As everything stands now, it’s a win win for both Microsoft and Xolo. Windows 8 will get more popular while attracting more developers and OEMs for Microsoft while Xolo will face little or no competition selling their Windows 8 devices come next year, as the Nokia Lumia 520 seems to be the only ‘cheap’ Windows 8 smartphone around.
Meanwhile Mr. Sehgal also told reporters that they are planning to launch 4G phones on Airtel around Christmas.
“We are going to launch our TD-LTE device in partnership with Bharti Airtel. Airtel is the bundling partner for Xolo’s 4G TD-LTE smartphone,” Sehgal siad. “We are the first Indian brand to have TD-LTE smartphone in the country. By the end of this month, we will start the shipments of Xolo TD-LTE smartphones.”
